Week 13

🌟 Week 13 Racing Alert! 🌟

We’re gearing up for another exhilarating week of racing as we dive into Week 13 of our action-packed season. This week, we have an exciting lineup for most categories, with regular racing events to keep the adrenaline pumping. However, there’s a special twist for our Cat C riders—they’ll be taking on the challenge of their very own Omnium!

For those unfamiliar with the Omnium format, it consists of four distinct races: the scratch race, tempo race, elimination race, and points race. Each race presents its own unique set of challenges, testing the riders’ skills, endurance, and tactical acumen. Points earned in each race will be combined to determine the overall Omnium position. It’s an incredible opportunity for our Cat C riders to showcase their versatility and compete across a range of disciplines.

To all riders and members of our racing community, we want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of volunteering. As we enter the final stretch of the season, we are in need of dedicated volunteers to ensure the smooth running of our events. If you haven’t had the chance to volunteer yet, we kindly ask you to consider signing up in the next couple of weeks. Your support is invaluable in creating a safe and enjoyable racing experience for everyone involved.

To sign up as a volunteer, please visit the following link: volunteersignup.org/BTDRR. We greatly appreciate your commitment and dedication to our racing community.

Get ready for an unforgettable Week 13 of racing as we witness the fierce competition, hear the cheers from the crowd, and celebrate the incredible achievements of our riders. Stay tuned for more information regarding the race schedule, format, and any updates specific to Week 13. Check our website and social media channels for the latest updates.

Let’s make Week 13 a memorable one, full of thrilling races, camaraderie, and unwavering support. See you at the races!

Barry the Seagull

🌊🏁 Summer Crits Race Number 4: Barry the Seagull’s Remarkable Journey 🏁🌊

In the heart of the summer, as the sun shines brightly upon the South Coast, the adrenaline-fueled Summer Crits races have been captivating spectators and participants alike. The races are known for their thrilling competitions and intense rivalries, but there’s one story that stands out amidst the screeching tires and cheering crowds. It’s the tale of Barry the Seagull, who found himself in an unexpected and heartwarming journey.

During the third car race of the season, held on the picturesque coastal track, a shocking incident occurred. Barry the Seagull, a well-known and mischievous character in the area, accidentally found himself caught up in the action. As the bikes whizzed past at astonishing speeds, Barry misjudged the trajectory and got in the way of a passing racer. The unfortunate collision left him with a broken wing, unable to fly and in desperate need of help.

News of Barry’s accident quickly spread throughout the region, tugging at the heartstrings of locals who had grown fond of his cheeky antics. Thankfully, the South Coast and East Sussex Bird/Gull Volunteer Network swiftly came to his rescue. These compassionate volunteers, dedicated to the welfare of our feathered friends, took immediate action to aid Barry in his time of need.

Barry was carefully transported to Saltdean, a tranquil coastal town where he could recuperate and receive the specialized care he required. Under the watchful eye of the devoted volunteers, his broken wing was expertly treated, and he was provided with a safe and nurturing environment to rest and recover.

Saltdean will become a haven for Barry during this challenging period. The town’s picturesque cliffs and serene beaches offered a peaceful backdrop for his healing journey. Local residents will be captivated by Barry’s story, rally together to support him, bringing him fresh fish and providing comfort and encouragement during his recovery.

Days may turn into weeks, and Barry will gradually regain his strength, thanks to the tireless efforts of the South Coast and East Sussex Bird/Gull Volunteer Network. Their commitment to wildlife conservation and rehabilitation will ensure that Barry will receive the best care possible, allowing him to overcome his injuries and prepare for his eventual return to the wild.

The Summer Crits races will always be remembered for their intense competition, but it was Barry the Seagull’s story that captured the true spirit of compassion and unity. His journey will remind us of the importance of looking out for one another, no matter how different we may be. So, as the summer sun continues to shine upon the South Coast, let’s cherish the memories of Barry’s remarkable adventure and carry his legacy of kindness forward.

Week 11

Attention all racers and cycling enthusiasts! Get ready for an exhilarating Week 11 of racing as we introduce two exciting events that will put your skills and strategies to the test.

First up, we have the thrilling “Course de Points” for all riders. In this unique race format, the points you earn during the race will be added to your league total, contributing to your overall standings. It’s an opportunity to showcase your racing prowess and accumulate valuable points that can make a difference in the league rankings. So, bring your A-game and go for those points!

The highlight of the evening will be the Australian Pursuit, open to all senior riders. This race promises an exhilarating challenge and a strategic battle on the track. Your starting position will be determined by your results in a previous race, with the slower riders positioned first and the faster riders positioned last. The race will span six laps, and if you’re caught by a faster rider, you’ll be eliminated from the pursuit. It’s a test of endurance, tactics, and sheer determination. The results will be decided in reverse order, with the first rider eliminated being placed last, and the second rider eliminated being placed second to last etc. Riders who avoid being caught will then compete for the finish in a thrilling block handicap-style finish to the race.

As we prepare for Week 11, let’s also express our gratitude to the volunteers who make these events possible. Their time, effort, and support contribute to the success and enjoyment of our racing community. If you haven’t volunteered yet, we invite you to sign up and be part of the action.
