VETS+WOMENS Night – Volunteers needed

We are in desperate need of volunteers to run this Fridays (May 5th) vets and womens races night, mainly in the area of marshalling.

If you can help out at all please contact us at volunteering@scrl.co.uk.

If you want to know what sort of jobs you will be doing, take a look at our volunteering page.

If we cannot cover the minimum marshalling requirements the evening cannot go ahead.

Thanking you all in advance.

Race day is coming! Are you ready?

It’s almost here!  The 2017 SCRL season is about to kick off! We’ve got lots of great racing planned for this year, including pursuits and keirin! You can look at the events calendar to see whats coming up (itinerary subject to change).

To make sure things go as smoothly as possible on our first days racing, please remember the following:

  • If you haven’t registered already, please do so online. Click here to go to the registration page.
  • Please also remember that any under 18 rider who does not have a full BC race licence must have a completed parental consent form when registering.  Please pay particular attention to the notes at the foot of the form.
  • Please remember to bring enough cash! You will need to pay the registration fee for the season (if you haven’t already) as well as the race fee, and also the bike hire fees if you are borrowing a bike.
  • Remember your British Cycling membership and racing licence! And also remember it must be valid to the end of the season. So at least up until September. If you have no licence you will need to purchase a day licence.

Part two of accreditation this Wednesday

It sure comes round quick … part two of the accreditation process is this Wednesday!

For those who attended last week it’s time to come back and finish what you’ve started! We’re just one week away from racing, and you wouldn’t want to miss out now would you?

Please note that you must have completed part one of the accreditation last week to attend this week.

If you missed it, and want to get accredited, check the calendar for the next two accreditation sessions (Friday April 21st and 28th at time of writing).

Accredited riders may attend if they wish, but please be aware that this weeks accreditation will involve much more track work, and so you may be asked to stop and/or join the accreditation bunch to help them get more bunch racing experience.

Also please note that there is a nominal charge of £3 (at time of writing) for those accredited riders wanting to practice.

See you there!

No Track Practice Tonight …

… in case you were wondering. We haven’t got the people available to cover it. Sorry about that.

If you weren’t aware, we try to run Friday night practice sessions at the track when there is the demand. At the moment though we are very busy getting the league up and running for this year, so we can’t cover it right now.

There will be more news soon!

P.S. Don’t forget to come back to finish accreditation next Wednesday for those of you who attended this week.

SCRL Needs You!

Thats right! We need you!

The new season is barely more than a couple of weeks away, and we need volunteers to help run the league.

The volunteering page has all the details of the positions we need to fill on a weekly basis, so please take a look and sign yourself up for whatever you can do.

Even if something you can do appears to be filled, we always need people on our list who can fill in to cover unexpected absences such as illness and the like.

Got a friend or relative who might like to help? Forward them this email!

Thanks in advance

Remember: No volunteers means no league!

Accreditation and practice sessions in just one week!

Did you dust off the track bike yet? (or maybe you’ve been busy at the velodrome all winter). Regardless, it’s going to need to be in tip-top shape soon as the accreditation sessions (for those who need it) and practice sessions (for those who do not) are just over a week away!

Wednesdays April 5th and 12th, weather pending, will see the sessions meet at around 6pm for sign on and getting organised, and then begin around 6:30.

Remember, you must be SCRL accredited to use the track for practice during these sessions. There will be no fee for those simply practicing.

Also please be aware that we are limited to 30 fixed gear riders at once on the track, and so availability of the track for practice may be affected by the number that turn up. Those doing the accreditation will take priority, obviously.

While you are at it, why not get your registration completed online and get that sorted ahead of time at the session?

Hope to see you there!

P.S. We still need volunteers for many positions at the track meetings. Please drop an email to volunteering@scrl.co.uk with availability dates and any of the jobs you will/won’t do if you can help out.

The league cannot run without volunteers!

Racing returns on April 19th 2017!

It’s here! The 2017 schedule is now in the events calendar along with the accreditation and early registration/ warmup sessions on April 1st and 8th.

This year also sees the launch of both a veterans and womens championship series one Friday a month from May through August and an all categories road (circuit) racing series one Friday a month from May through to July

So lots of events and disciplines to keep you busy over the summer!

Please also remember that the league is entirely volunteer run. Please see our volunteering page and sign yourself up, otherwise the league cannot be run!

First Week Rained Off

What a shame, after waiting all this time for the track to be ready along comes the rain.

Oh well – there are 14 more weeks.
