Champs Week
Welcome to this week’s racing update. We want to remind riders that the weather forecast is indicating a high chance of rain, which could potentially impact the upcoming race. If the rain is too heavy and poses a risk to rider safety, we may have to call off the event. We will make a decision by around 16:00 today and keep everyone informed.
Additionally, we want to emphasize the importance of volunteering. To ensure that our league runs smoothly, we require every racer to volunteer for at least one week throughout the season. This ensures that everyone has a chance to contribute and help make our events successful.
There are many different volunteer roles available, from marshaling to registration, and we encourage riders to sign up for a slot that interests them. Volunteering is a great way to get involved and give back to the cycling community, while also meeting new people and gaining valuable experience.
So, if you haven’t yet volunteered, please consider signing up for a slot. And remember, we will make a decision about the race by around 16:00 today, depending on the weather conditions. Let’s work together to make SCRL a thriving community for cyclists of all levels and backgrounds.
Racing will start at 18:30 so please get to track around 18:00 to get yourselves set up and ready.
Week 4 – Championship Scratch
Welcome to the fourth week of SCRL Racing! This week is all about the championship scratch race, which promises to be an exciting event. However, with the possibility of rain, riders should keep this in mind and be prepared for wet conditions.
Last week, we saw a successful ladies’ week with great participation and high energy from all the riders. It was inspiring to see such enthusiasm and support for women’s cycling, and we hope to see this continue in the future.
However, it’s important to note that the SCRL league only runs with the help of volunteers. Without their commitment and dedication, we would not be able to continue providing opportunities for riders to race and improve their skills. So, we want to extend a huge thank you to all our volunteers who have made this league possible so far.
If you’re interested in getting involved and helping out, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We always need more volunteers to ensure that races run smoothly and safely. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or just passionate about the sport, there are plenty of ways to get involved and make a difference.
In conclusion, we’re looking forward to another exciting week of racing, but we couldn’t do it without the support of our volunteers. Let’s continue to make SCRL a vibrant and inclusive community for cyclists of all levels and backgrounds.
Another week completed!
Last night’s SCRL Track league was a great night for everyone involved. The atmosphere was electric, and the racers truly gave it their all, making it a night to remember.
Firstly, it was a great night of racing. The competition was fierce, and all the racers put in an incredible performance, displaying their skills and determination. The energy in the velodrome was amazing, with cheers and applause ringing out every time a cyclist crossed the finish line.
One of the standout moments of the night was seeing the youth As step up and compete alongside the senior As. It was clear that they were not out of their depth and that they had been working hard to get to this point. It was inspiring to see the younger riders holding their own against the more experienced competitors.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the dedication and hard work of our volunteers. They gave up their time and energy to ensure that the event ran smoothly, and we can’t thank them enough.
Finally, for anyone who wants to join in on the action, we can put on an accreditation for you. All you need to do is message us on Facebook, and once we have enough interest, we can run a session for you. This is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to give track cycling a go and experience the thrill of racing on the velodrome.
In conclusion, last night’s SCRL Track league was an incredible event, showcasing the best of what track cycling has to offer. It was a night of intense competition, inspiring performances, and an amazing atmosphere. We can’t wait for the next one!
