Omnium round up

The Vern McClend Memorial Omnium was a resounding success this year, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with how the event turned out! We saw an excellent turnout, with participants and spectators alike coming together to create an unforgettable atmosphere. The racing was nothing short of spectacular—full of high-energy moments and thrilling finishes that kept everyone on the edge of their seats.

A huge thank you goes out to all the volunteers who dedicated their time and energy throughout the year and during the omnium itself. Without your commitment and hard work, this event wouldn’t have been possible. Your efforts truly made a difference, and we are deeply grateful for everything you do to support our community.

As we look ahead, we’re excited to announce our upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM). This will be an important opportunity for everyone to share their thoughts on how the season went and discuss ideas for the next season. We encourage all members to attend, as your feedback is crucial in shaping the future of our events and ensuring we continue to grow and improve.

Thank you again to everyone who made this year’s Vern McClend Memorial Omnium a day to remember. We look forward to seeing you at the AGM!

Omnium This Sunday

Inaugral Vern McClelland Omnium at Preston Park Sunday 18th August

The Vern McClelland memorial omnium is almost upon us already!

It is not often that Preston Park hosts an Open omnium (outside of the youth omniums) so don’t miss your chance to be a part of what may well be a historic event. With cash, voucher and sponsor prizes to win across all categories it’s all to play for.

A successful omnium makes the likelihood of holding more in the future much greater, which all adds to the sustainability of the track and local racing in general. So if you (or someone you know) has been on the fence about entering now is the time to get them to sign up!

Go here to enter the Omnium and for full information.

We also need more volunteers for the event to go ahead, so if you were bringing someone along to spectate, why not get them to sign up here and help out. You don’t need any experience to marshall (though instructions will be given), and there will likely be some free coffee (and maybe some cake) in it for them.

On the subject of cake, any donated sweets and goodies to put on sale is always welcome. You don’t have to be a bake-off candidate, it can be home made or shop bought, we aren’t too fussy!

Let’s see you down there for a memorable morning of racing on Sunday!
