Sussex Cycle Racing LeagueIt’s Wednesday, that means the threat of showers in Brighton. Well actually not a threat it is now raining. The hope is that it finishes real soon and the sun comes back out and everything will be fine.
But just in case it doesn’t happen that way keep on eye for further notices. We will try and make a decision by 5 and get the message out as soon after that as we can.
Lets not dwell on another Wednesday night missed due to the weather, lets hope its the last one this season. However there is still a chance to race at the track this week, that is as long as you are either a Male Vet (40+) or Female (Junior or above). And spread the word to friends, clubmates etc who might be interested, no accreditation needed for these races so a good chance to come along and try out track racing.
And if you don’t fit into either category then we are not so fussy when it comes to volunteering, we accept anyone. Please do come down and help out.
And a reminder that this Sunday is the PPYCC Youth Omniun. Entries closed but spectators (and no doubt volunteers) welcomed.
This Saturday we look forward to welcoming you to SCRL’s Annual Awards & AGM. With a stack of medals and trophies plus prize money to present we really have good reason to celebrate the past season.
Equally important are your ideas for the 2018 track season. On the night we want to hear your ideas on what you think will help strengthen SCRL in the future and the action required to make it happen!

SCRL 2017 Awards and AGM Saturday 18th November 2017 , 5.15pm – 7.30pm, Knoyle Hall, Brighton
We are delighted to announce that Preston Park Bike Track is once again a British Cycling accredited race venue. With no time to waste, a new track league series promoted by Sussex Cycle Race League (SCRL) will start on Wednesday 18th May 2016 at 6.45pm and then every Wednesday through to mid August.
WARM UP & REGISTRATION SESSION
For those who have raced the SCRL Wednesday night series in previous years, a warm up and registration session will be held at the track on Wednesday 11th May from 6.30 – 8.00pm.
RACING TRACK OR PRESTON PARK CIRCUIT FOR THE FIRST TIME?
For those wishing to participate in the Wednesday track league for the first time, new riders are very welcome and SCRL will run be running a number of accreditation sessions at the track, starting on Friday 13th May at 6pm. This will give riders the opportunity to ask questions, learn the essential rules, skills and etiquette of track racing as well as promote a safer race environment.
Bike rental: a limited number of bikes will be available to rent for the sessions.
This actually applies to any rider who has not raced fixed wheel before so anyone riding in the Under 10 in 2014 who has now moved up to under 12 and fixed wheel will need to have been accredited.
Registration
This year the registration fee is £5 as you will need to sign a registration form. For anyone that raced in 2014 or 2013 we will have a printed copy of your form available at the track. All you will have to do is check it, make any updates then sign (and pay the fee of course). Otherwise you will have to complete a form at the track or complete your membership details here.
